Jenny McCarthy's Son Recovering from Autism

Mallika Chopra - April 02, 2008

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carey have written an editorial on CNN about children and autism. Jenny's son, Evan, was diagnosed with autism. More remarkably, he has recovered from the debilitating disorder through a combination of diet, medical treatments and therapy. Last year, I had the honor of having a public dialogue with Jenny, and I was blown away by her intelligence, compassion, determination and courage to speak about her son's illness. And, for me, it was the first time I was exposed -- even though I am a parent who has been warned about the potential links of certain immunizations and autism -- to the dialogue, debate and controversy around autism in this country.

In her CNN article, Jenny says:

We believe what helped Evan recover was starting a gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and anti-fungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines. Once Evan's neurological function was recovered through these medical treatments, speech therapy and applied behavior analysis helped him quickly learn the skills he could not learn while he was frozen in autism. continues....

I have been at the clinic with my granddaughter and watched her get up to four and five immunizations at a time. I certainly can see how this could affect the nervous system of a very small child. I do not understand why pediatricians now give them so many immunizations simultaneously. It worries me. Surely, we could spread those out over a little longer space, so that their small bodies are not hit with so much.

Yes,seen here so many times on these talk shows.she was marvelous.
I was reading in the paper the other day.
One draw to my attention.
the title was;Who will take care of my autism child when I am gone.
This was pretty sad and a good question to ask.
Where do they go after parents are gone?
What do they do with them. This is something that has to be worked out.
Pretty sad to hear about this.
Jenny is making a point loud and clear.
This I believe have helped many parents out there.
Good post and give them aware of this.
Thank you for posting this.Fredo
