I always take my shoes off when enter.Do not store them n the bedroom.
Make a lot of sense. That is why it is custom in Japan to take off your shoes.
Good post and got my lesson for the week.

I like the one about storing shoes by the front door. People should build big shoe closets in the front hall? Or do the germs expire after a certain amount of time so it'd be safe to store them in the closet?

I agree with your idea of a tall cabinet, with 3 people in the apt. there is no room by the front door for daily shoe changes. I've tried different things, I think I'll just wash soles of shoes and then let them put up in the re-cycled 5 gal. plastic rectangle water jugs..."shoe storage" stacks nicely on closet shelf.Oh and spray the soles w/ antibacterial spray. This would also cut down on the carpet dust/dirt. We do take the shoes off at the door.
