I never babied my son, except when it came down to serving dinners and things like that. He's almost 22 and I still do that. However, when he would complain or something like that, I'd say, "Shut up before I really give you something to cry about." - "You think that hurts? C'mere" - "You skinned your knee, banged your elbow, fell off your bike? Suck it up, kid, then get over it." Things like that. No bike helmuts, knee pads, etc. I see a 12 year old by me wearing a bike helmut and I think it makes him look like a pansy.
Very happy to know he is doing better and that surgery was a success and there was no cancer. Yeah!
