Found Wallet

Of course, I’m going to say that it’s in the last place I looked because after I found it, I didn't have to look any more.

And maybe I would have gotten around to looking in that spot before I cancelled all my credit cards. I spent the last couple of days searching and sorting and organizing, something that needed to be done. But also several hours gazing off into space trying to picture where it was and how it got there. And the truck cab is much tidier plus I found out there are at least three compact umbrellas behind the seat even though we seldom get rain here.

It was upstairs in the sewing room in a box of books I brought down from the back garage a couple of days ago. No idea why I would have put my wallet in that box of books. I kept going back to that bedroom to check pockets and shake out clothes in case it had fallen out of a pocket or I had set it on the bed. The next step would have been to really clean the bedrooms, although my rational(?) mind said there's no way I had my wallet up in the bedroom lately.

Of course while I was looking and looking for it I was promising myself I would be more careful in the future, and could see all kinds of ways I should have prevented it from falling out of the truck or me just setting it down somewhere, assuming that’s what happened to it. And I might thrown in some of those bargains like 'If I find it, I won't eat fast food for a year.'

In the process of searching I discovered that I don’t know where my passport is, so that’s another issue, but it’s not as urgent. I was really wondering how I was going to get a new driver’s license because they say on the website you have to bring a photo ID, which would be no problem if I had my passport, but just now I don't. That’s a chicken and egg thing if I ever heard one.

I was starting to doubt the direction of my life - after many good years maybe it was turning to crap, and I would be doomed to a life of tedious days spent fixing problems caused by being distracted.
I wasn't going to tell you about it, because I didn't want a bunch of pious advice about how you never have lost your wallet or car keys, and/or handy tips for prevention. No sir, just not in the mood.
So happy day, happy day. The universe is back in alignment.
