How to Put Sheets on the Bed Wet

I just came across a site called wikiHow: How to Put Sheets on the Bed Wet

My first thought was 'why would I want to?' but apparently it takes the place of ironing them - they dry smooth. I'm game to try, but it sounds a little bit fussy with the precise timing in the dryer and the fan and all. But I can give it a shot and maybe it's worth it because I do have some all cotton sheets that wrinkle easily.

Wash dirty sheets in normal fashion.
Make sure all excess water has been removed in spin process.
Put the sheets in the dryer with the rest of the wash load, first pulling out the fitted sheet after it has been heated (5 minutes)
Put fitted sheet on your bed making sure it is pulled taut.
Now remove the flat top sheet from the dryer (don't let it stay in dryer more than 7 minutes)
Put the flat sheet right over the fitted sheet and pull it all the way up to headboard. Don't tuck in the sides so the entire sheet can dry fully.
Open a window, or run a fan to expedite the process.
After the top sheet seems dry, carefully fold it back to allow the bottom sheet to dry fully.
The entire process should be complete before it's bedtime!

Tips
When putting the wet sheets on bed make sure you pull each one taut to smooth it out.
This works great with the higher thread count sheets (400+) that wrinkle so easily.

Warnings
Don't put the bed spread or other covers over the sheets until they are completely dry.

There are other How To articles on this site. I found it by Googling How to Make a Roman Shade. The warnings are quite funny. For example when changing a duvet cover:
"Don't fall over the banister/off the bunk bed. Duvets are quite heavy especially when you shake them."

One more:
"If you have an Aero bed that you love, but it's begun to leak, here's an easy solution. Good for small holes from cat claws or leaking seams.

Steps
Go to the local hardware store and purchase at least two cans of Aqua by Rustoleum or Acrylic spray paint. Use at least three cans for a queen sized bed. Select a color to match the color of the bed itself. The Aqua by Rust Oleum paint can be used indoors while the Acrylic should be used outdoors or in a well ventilated area (garage, patio, backyard...).

I suppose this might have been a practice back in the days of line drying, when things were still damp on the line or when they were taken in just short of being dry for crispness, smoothness, and to finish drying. When dryers were invented, people probably still wanted that dried-on-the-line feeling to the bed, so someone must have figured out just how long to put the sheets in the dryer to compare with the wetness/dryness time of being out on the line. I would never iron sheets, anyway...no way! Most of the time, they can be smoothed out nicely on the bed anyway...if too wrinkled for that, I just toss them in the dryer for a bit, sometimes just on "fluff" or "air only" mode, and all comes out good enough. The whole concept is interesting, though...I never would have expected to find such a thing on the internet or anywhere.

Mildew is a big problem down here so I don't think I'll try it. Also, it means I have to be thinking about the bed all day. Also, Ed and the cats take naps ...

I gotta hand it to ya, your title got my attention. Like Marg, I remembered taking wet sheets off the bed. Who would have thought? Great Post!

Sounds like too much trouble. Besides, I think wrinkles give sheets character. NO, wait...that is the face, not sheets. Nevermind.

I don't like the idea of putting damp sheet on the mattress. I guess that mine will have to be wrinkled, for ironing is out of the question! I can just see the cats with the ironing cord!
