After a couple of nice days, heading for the 70s, today was like March, windy and cold. The sky would be blue, and a couple minutes later it was entirely overcast. At one point it was snowing, very fine flakes driven on the wind like dust, and 5 minutes later the sun was out again.

It's going to get down close to freezing tonight so I have to cover my vegetable garden. I don't really mind the prospect of a cooler summer up here because it reduces the danger of forest fire.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm expecting too much of my vegetable gardening efforts because last year my very modest two plants did okay. This year I have lots of tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini planted. Between the wind and the cold I think they are going to give up the ghost.

Pathetic, isn't it?
