I promise all those of you who have commented on my posts that I will respond in the near future.
We were planning on driving to Colorado on Friday but decided to stay here in Las Vegas because of the big snow storm that slammed that state, with up to 3 feet of snow in the mountains where we would have been driving. It looked like Wyoming (our northern route) was also getting dumped on, and even coming from the south by way of New Mexico we would have had bad weather.
So now we have to wait for next Friday to make the trip because Mr. Troutbend does not want to miss his Thursday bowling league. He was going to drive me to Colorado on Friday and get back to Las Vegas in time for his Tuesday league.
I was so looking forward to getting back to my DSL and done with this poky old dial-up connection I can barely stand to log onto the Internet to post this.
I feel like I'm in limbo. I was ready to leave this place: all the food used up or stored in the refrigerator (this house gets as hot as 90 degrees in the summer so even oatmeal goes rancid), bathrooms cleaned up, carpet vaccummed, hard floors scrubbed, car packed. I was outta here, and now I'm not there but I'm not here, either.
We had made a (free) room reservation at Laughlin, NV for Thursday night and that would give us a 90 minute head start on the southern route to Colorado, so instead of canceling it, we extended it to two nights and took a mini-vacation, driving from there down to Lake Havasu, AZ to see London Bridge. Yes THE London Bridge that a guy bought in the late 1960s and reconstructed in Arizona as a tourist attraction. I will post photos eventually, but meanwhile, I'm not here and I'm not there either.
