I am so glad you are starting to feel better. Those winter coughs can really be a pain.
Both pictures are so adorable. Buffy was such a special member of your family! I know that I miss hearing about him, too!

I don't think your age is necessarily causing you to be so strong in your pursuit. Like you said, you are just interested.

Martin and I don't always agree, which is pretty cool since we have become good friends, but I do have to say that he is probably right in this situation. Relationships are a really tricky thing. Even when you think you know what you want, that evolves and changes with time.

With that said, I do think that you both have to be honest with yourselves about how you feel and what you want. He sounds like a great friend and a guy you like to be with, but he might not be ready to take the next step, at this time. That is never an easy situation to be in. I always seemed to have that problem! Really, though, that means that you have to decide for yourself whether you are/can be happy with the way things seem to be heading, whether you are willing to wait and see how they develope, or whether you really should consider just being friends and moving on in other directions romantically.

I don't know that there is anyway to ask him what you want to ask him without putting him on the spot about asking if he will ever be ready to be your boyfriend.

It is a tough situation. I had more than my share like that. I always seemed to be drawn to guys that were interested in other guys or girls. Go figure!

Ouch! I hope he has a quick recovery. We had to take Belle in yesterday for emergency surgery for an abcess. She seems to be on a speedy recovery, too!

Sounds really interesting. I didn't realize there was a movie about him coming out. I am always good for watching Mirren.

I agree. I actually suspect the Court will rule fairly narrowlly with regard to to Prop 8 in California. The question they are looking at is whether a granted right can eb taken away. While an important ruling, which I suspect will support the previous ruling against Prop 8, it won't have a large affect on the question of same-sex marriage.

The court is also looking at DOMA with a related case, but on separate grounds. The full faith and credit clause of the Constitution requires states to recognize actions records, divorce decrees, marriage licenes, etc. DOMA was created to provide an exception for sames-sex marriage. There has been some questions about the results of this portion of the hearing. Much of what I am seeing indicates that Chief Justice Roberts would likely vote against DOMA in order to protect a direct interpretation of the constitution's full faith and credit clause, which would likely mean a 5/4 or even 6/3 vote in recognition of same-sex marriages. That is by no means guaranteed, though.

YOu are so right about it being a long, drawn out process, though, I believe that even if the court stumbles in its support, it is only a matter of time before we see full recognition of same-sex marriage. Popular opinion has radically swung in our favor in just the last 6 years, and I think that trend will continue.

I think that it is not a homerun, but it is definitely baby steps in the right direction.

It seems like the image loader is being unfriendly this evening. I just cheated and copied and pasted the URLs into my browser to check them out. VERY COOL! I can see why it might have been a bit intimidating, but it looks totally awesome!

LOL! I have to say that I don't understand their argument in this case. I don't mean the specific one accusing the Democrats of (basically) bribing voters to win. Don't people normally vote for the person or party they agree with more on the issues or policy? Don't both parties strive to encourage people who support them to get out and vote?

I actually think that the latter question is one that we should all encourage. We want our electors to be active participants in the democratic process. As for the first part, I am totally confused as to why they think it is bad for people to support candidates/parties who believe the same thing they do. I think that people who believe in Republican principals have every right not to be told they are being bribed with tax cuts just because they are voting their conscious just as much as a believe those supporting Democrats shouldn't be told they are voting for a government that bribes them with a social safety net.
