"Treat yourself like I-95 and never stop working on yourself no matter how inconvenient it is for everyone else."
Substitute your favorite local public works project. I can think of several around here.
I am working through the 15 years of nearly daily Blogster/Greasy/MyBloggers messages with Jeri to put some order into it.
Since 2008 I've copy/pasted her messages into Word documents so I could go back and look for authors and books she recommended, and also to act as a journal. Years ago, Jeri and I agreed that I'd compile it and send to her daughter Linda.
Last week I combined the 120-some files into a pdf, and there was 7,057 pages!
This was before cleaning up white space. Now I am working through them, inserting her 1,328 posts for context. That'll add more pages. When I was transferring them, I didn't spend a lot of time organizing, and going through, sometimes it has looked like I skipped entire months at a time. At first the OCD in me was horrified that it wouldn't be complete. Then, logic set in: be happy with what there is. And after all that I've found most of what I thought was missing, so the project surges forward.
