I've had 'friends' drop me once they got what they wanted. One used to stop in at any time said she enjoyed it here on the river etc. But once her husband died and she didn't need an excuse to get out the house, she never came back. Another's husband liked to fish here for free, circumventing the fishing club. And there's more instances. I usually think of it as 'their circumstances changed' instead of calling it what it is: they used me, and I should have seen it coming. Now I'm more careful about who I spend my time with.
Thanks Martin. I often wonder what to watch next.
Such a nice-sounding kitty.
For the time being I've lost interest in the home improvement shows. One of my favorites was on the DIY Channel where the homeowners did all the improving - they had a budget, there was no 'host' egging them on, and they didn't always get the job done, but it was fun watching them try. I'll never forget the one where they kept misplacing the tape measure and buying new ones.
The collage you posted is a nice change from the Zoom etc. meeting screens. I might start a list of things I want to do 'out and about' at some point. I need to go to the bank to get into the Safe Deposit Box. So far, that's it, aside from grocery shopping every two weeks.
I agree. It's a never-ending project that has to be approached with an internal motivation to make our small part of the world a better place. Sometimes my internal motivation is: 'If I wanted to look at a mess, I'd stay at home.'
Mushy corned beef hash sounds like dog food. Hope they come up with an alternative.
Have you seen those Captcha things where we're supposed to count the number of pictures that have a sidewalk or a hand rail in them and enter that number to prove we're not a robot?
I know it's not funny to you, but I was laughing because it's so much like a visit from my sister and mother back when I had a sister and a mother. You have us. We would never say those things.
Happy birthday Fredo.
Sounds good. I'll put it on my list. Thanks.
I ordered some fabric on Amazon, a good-sized chunk big enough for a quilt back. Search for "Quilt backing 108 inch wide, by the yard."
It was supposed to be 100% cotton, that's what the description said, but when it came it had an odd feel to it - very stiff sizing in it, perhaps. Or maybe it isn't really 100% cotton. I pre-washed it, and it's still the stiffness and feel of a roofing tarp. I am thinking of washing it some more to see if that can soften it up. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do with it, aside from draping over a leaky roof.
I really enjoyed that Liar Tweets Tonight video. It would make a great campaign ad - sort of a 'need we say more?'
