Most years, at this time of year the Big Thompson River is solidly frozen over until mid-April, sometimes later. This past winter was warmer and drier than normal, and there was construction work upstream that disturbed the normal flows.
The fishermen are anxious to come and see how our fish are doing; they've made a reservation for this coming Friday.
We usually have a big fish hanging out by the bridge, and I've seen him a couple of times in the past few days, a sign that things are okay in the river.
