Driving Through Utah - Torrey

Here is a nice picture taken at Torrey, Utah. I love these desert scenes.

This is for Jeri. She knows who this is, someone who wants to have her wedding at my place in Colorado next August.

The groom was a policeman, but the recent fires in his town unhinged him, so he quit, and now he works freelance for the police and sheriffs serving process and placing foreclosure notices on the doors of homes. It just gives me goosebumps to look at this picture, and I don't mean in a good way.

The mother of the bride (who is really her grandmother who raised her) says: "She has known him for a long time, and he's the nicest guy." She may have known him for a long time, but she has only been dating him for a couple of weeks this time, if they ever dated before. She wants to get married so badly, it smacks of desperation. What she has been doing for the past couple of years is trolling Facebook for old high school acquaintances and contacting them in hopes of finding a husband. Most of them have been real losers, and the relationships lasted about a week. If she actually goes through with this marriage, I can see her having a kid and shoving it off onto her grandmother to raise while she goes on with her selfish life.

It's like watching the train wreck very early on - the train is just gathering steam to pull out of the station.

We looked at property in Torrey when we first came out to Utah, but it was even more remote than where we are now. Nice scenery though.

The majesty of that area is so uplifting.

Sadly people have to make their own mistakes--even sadder we never learn from our mistakes.

Add bipolar to the mix, and it's a bottomless pit.

You are leaving us on the edge of our seats again. What about the wedding next summer?

Well, here is the absolute latest: Miss Ditz aka Career Barbie sent me an email the next day saying the wedding is off 'because he has two kids, and they come first' whatever that means. Surely she knew he had children before she started picking out wedding venues. Knowing her, it's not just the wedding that's off, it's the whole relationship.

Could you guess this is that same super-dysfunctional family I wrote about last Thanksgiving?

That just ties my stomach into knots! And I don't even know these people!

The drama in that family would completely distract you from what's happening with yours. It certainly puts my life into perspective.
