I am a huge fan of social networking sites, like facebook and linked in. However, I also think that they present a fundamental challenge to the ways in which we communicate.
Facebook is a bit voyeuristic in the way that you can peer (spy) on other people's lives. You don't have to pick up the phone to call them anymore, why? Because they are posting their status every hour on the hour. I am guilty of it, but I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I think an interesting social experiment would be to study the lives of people in various generations and monitor their Facebook vs real time contact. I would hypothesize that people of my generation and younger spend quite some time on the Facebook, and the older generation prefers the human interaction.
The danger of these social networking sites is that it will change the way that we interact with other humans.
This is kind of a deep post for Friday... HA!
Hope you're all doing well.
