This is one of those summers that we hit 100's in June. I don't know what the high was today; but it is 4:45 p.m. and it is 103. Tomorrow, the weatherman says 107. However, far be it from me to complain. I like the heat. Holly has had asthma since she was about five, though it has got much better now that she is an adult. The doctor said that he wanted her in the water every day she could be because it would help her symptoms.
The girls would take summer playground in the morning, which included swimming lessons as well as softball and another activity. I would pick them up from their last activity at noon; we would eat lunch; then they would go back to the pool at 1:00, staying until I got off work. The pool was the social gathering spot for all the kids in the summer. They would swim and visit the day away.
Needless to say, they are both excellent swimmers and divers. Did wonders for her asthma as well.
I loved the water too when I was younger. Nothing gave me more pleasure than water skiing.
I remember one year that Gordon and I were just dying to go water skiing. It was only March, but we braved it. Needless to say, the water was on the ICY side. I told him to bring me in close to the bank when I gave the signal because I DID NOT want to drop off in deep water and freeze.
When I signaled, he headed for shore. He was looking back at me to be sure that he was getting me close enough and he ran the boat right up on the bank.
I dropped off and walked over to him, sitting marooned on the bank. "I didn't mean quite that close!" I remarked.
After we broke up, I never water skied again. The joy for it went out of me.
I finally have my appointment with my orthopedic physician this Friday. I could have got in sooner if I had agreed to see another doctor; but I like this guy. He has seen me before and he's the one I had them call when Mother broke her hip.
He did a marvelous job. She got along so well and has never had a moment's problem with her hip replacement.https://www.slate.com/id/2223551/?GT1=38001
