Dogs

Hi!  Four years ago after my last dog died, we got our first Corgi, Jones.  Jones is the most common Welsh name so that seemed appropriate.  Jones was such a busy dog, busy body, I thought he needed a friend, so we got Cariad, Cari for short, another Corgi.  Cariad means 'sweetheart' in the Welsh language.  I walk them a few miles each day.  Jones barks too much and Cari gets into everything, but I cannot imagine life without them.  Jones has anxiety attacks when he rides in the car and has eaten through one seat belt that we have replaced.  (wow, are they expensive!).  However, he is doing a little better now and we keep trying to train him.  I believe in positive reinforcement in dog training, but must admit that sometimes a 2x4 seems like a good alternative. Both of them are neutered of course.  Jones is really almost show quality except for his missing parts.  But I think Cari is a product of a puppy mill. Nevertheless, both of them are very lovable and keep us happy and moving around.  I hope someone is inspired to tell me a dog story or should I say a dog tail.  Best, Jane

Your corgis sound delightful - is the second dog in the photo in the mountains Cari? Jones is such a good name - I might borrow it some times. I love dogs and have 3 of my own, in addition to a foster. As for training, I've often had the same thought about my beagle. She has a will of her own.

Laura may have mentioned Rex who is the most lovable dog on the planet. She has a picture of him. They are expensive!

Welcome. I've learned about you through Laura (Troutbend). You sound like my kind of person. I'm not much into dogs (although I have one), but I did teach high school biology on occasion.

I'm always so thrilled to have a visit from the Corgis because of the joy of watching them have a good time here in the mountains.

We've only had two dogs. One passed at 13 and the other at 17. Then I discovered we were cat people. We're on cats #4 and #5 now.

Welcome Jane!!!!
I have lots of "Cat Tails" since I have 10 rescue cats!! Now for a dog story, we always had police german shepard dogs growing up as we lived on a chicken ranch, you can imagine the stories of all the cats Shep layed out back, I swore I would never own a cat, I hated them as much as the guard dog!!!!!

HAHAHAHA it all started with a feral mama kitty and her 4 feral kittens on my back porch one early summer morning!!!
look forward to reading more of your dog stories...
