My Obsessional Quest

I'm always looking for something new to read.   I don't know why authors can't write as fast as I want to read their newest book!   (Yes, I'm only kidding!  The list of authors I enjoy is pretty long but I am always looking for someone new.
It's hard looking at Amazon or Barnes and Noble because I end up spending a bushel of money.  I recently discovered that Hasting's sells used books-and it's a lot closer than the nearest Half Price so I've started checking out their books.  Some are hits and other misses.
I'm not sure what it says about me that almost all of my pleasure reading revolves around mysteries-anything but a cozy!  I love police procedurals, private investigators, and I want a little blood.  Occasionally I throw in one of Charlaine Harris'.
I found this one  sitting on the new Mystery shelf at Barnes and Noble.  The main character is a forensic sketch artist for the NYPD.  He has an uncanny ability to draw realistic sketches even when a witness doesn't think they know anything.  There's also just a little bit of psychic ability thrown in there-but just a touch.
I was lucky enough to also find his first book in this series, Anatomy of Fear.  Now I'm on the hunt for his series featuring Kate McKinnon, a NYPD cop turned art historian.  I hope he writes fast!

I'm such an avid reader as well. I don't read mysteries that often though, but one author I do like is Carl Haaisan (sp?) He wrote a book called "Basket Case" that was fantastic

People who knew me growing up thought I would be a librarian. I'm never far away from a book. M is already learning you always take a book with you.

I know what you mean about always looking for good new authors. Last year our neighbor in Las Vegas threw out about 100 new books (too lazy to take to the Goodwill or the Library used book sale). It was an opportunity for us to find some new authors, and some of them we didn't like at all, but we found a few good ones.

I love to read, my favorite author is Dean Koontz, and I love Janet Evonovich...but they aren't anywhere near Murder mysteries..LOL

Sounds really interesting! One of the best things about working in a library is everything I see going by my desk I can get for free.
