In this series that spun off from "Doctor Who," policewoman Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles)

stumbles upon a secret organization known as Torchwood, a clandestine group led by the mysterious Capt. Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)

that monitors alien activity on Earth. Cooper soon joins Harkness, tech expert Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori)

and medic Owen Harper (Burn Gorman)

in their quest to protect Earth from invasion. This disc includes the following episodes:

3. Ghost Machine - Torchwood comes into possession of a device that can tap into the hidden energy left behind by strong emotions, creating ghostly recreations of the events that left them there. When Owen accidentally uses the device at the scene of an unsolved murder, he becomes obsessed with bringing the killer to justice. 4.25 stars (Dale-4, David-4.5)

4. Cyberwoman - Ianto has a dark secret, tied to the basement of the Hub — a secret he will protect at any cost. 2.75 stars (Dale-2, David-3.5)

5. Small Worlds - A withdrawn but intelligent child has her suppressed anger taken advantage of; Jack must encounter his past to defeat those responsible: fairies at the bottom of her garden. 4.5 stars

Rated NR 2 hours 30 minutes 2006

3.83 stars for Disc 2; 3.42 stars Season 1. really enjoyed Ghost Machine & Small Worlds. Cyberwoman was super lame and totally unbelievable. Small Worlds was amazing and had a great story with it!

Comments:

Cyberwoman probably works better if you have a Dr. Who background. I don't know if you know it, but this is a spin off series from that show, which has the Cybermen as regular (for decades) villain "race."

never knew that. When I lived with my dad we didn't have a TV for a long time, from like 4th grade to 7th grade. Then we got a TV & VCR for Christmas (from Grandparents), but the TV was in the basement and we couldn't get any reception (no antenna either). So unless we could get it on video I didn't get to see much TV. I am very thankful for it now as it got me much more interested in the outdoors, music, and reading! Will definitely put the original on our list (it's about 1000 movies deep now LOL)
