The Producers: Special Edition

In this hysterical farce, rapacious but lovable producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel)

hasn't had a hit in years. Quite by accident, he & his meek, neurotic accountant, Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder),

come up with a plot to oversell shares in a surefire flop musical & make off with the profits -- using the worst play ever written, "Springtime for Hitler." Inspired, manic performances & Brook's lively direction make The Producers a true gem.

Rated PG 1 hour 30 minutes 1968

4 stars. Funny. Classic. (some real sexist scenes with the secretary and the effeminate gay guy with the make up and lisp - but it is Mel Brooks and he teases everyone)

Did you see the musical film version with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick? Won 10 Tony awards BUT the film version not as good as either!
