The Broadway Melody (1929)

You'll be tappin' your toes to this early talkie musical (the first musical to win the Best Picture Oscar) that's filled with great tunes by the songwriting team of Arthur Freed

& Nacio Herb Brown.

Bessie Love

& Anita Page

are stage-struck sisters who both vie for the affections of song-and-dance man Charles King, with tragic results. Songs include "You Were Meant For Me" & "The Wedding of the Painted Doll." Harry Beaumont

directs.

Rated NR 1 hour 40 minutes 1929

4 stars. Surprisingly entertaining. Music was great and acting kept us interested throughout.

Special Features:
