SPOILER ALERT (PER MARTIN)
Bella and Edward are finally married and spend their honeymoon on Isle Esme, an island off the coast of Brazil owned by the Cullens. Only two weeks later, Bella realizes that she is pregnant and that the pregnancy is progressing at an unnaturally fast pace. She and Edward return to Forks, where she must contend with the trials of carrying a half-vampire baby, as well as pressure from Edward and Jacob Black to have an abortion before the pregnancy kills her. However, Bella already feels a connection to her unborn baby and refuses. The perspective then shifts to Jacob, who describes the situation from his perspective, as well as his conflict with the rest of his tribe, who want both Bella and her unborn child destroyed. This eventually causes a rift in the pack with Jacob forming his own pack with Seth and Leah Clearwater. Jacob witnesses the horrifying birth of Bella's baby, during which she loses a massive amount of blood and her spine is broken. Edward is forced to change her into a vampire to save her life. Before the perspective of the book changes again, Jacob imprints on the new baby, Renesmee. Bella takes back over as narrator and describes the horrible experience of changing into a vampire, as well as how powerful and beautiful she feels afterward. It seems that the Cullens are a happy family until Irina, still grieving over the death of her mate, sees Renesmee and informs the Volturi that Renesmee is an "immortal child" -- a child that was made into a vampire. This is one of the few laws in vampire society because a child that never ages is a threat to their secrecy. The Cullens must then gather a council of other vampires to testify on their behalf that Renesmee is not an immortal child. They have a confrontation and the Volturi decide to leave the Cullens in peace.
5 stars. Loved this book the most out of all of them!!! If I would have known how well written and fascinating this last book was (compared to the others in the series), I would have rated them much lower.
