Helen Mirren narrates this sweeping exploration of Arabian culture and history that's driven by stunning IMAX cinematography. Standing at the center is a young film student who returns from studying abroad to shoot a movie about his homeland.
3.5 stars (Dale-4, David-3) Fascinating, This film did a decent job of presenting information about Arabian geography, economy and culture. What I don't understand is the degree of negative reaction to the film. Why do people feel the need to attack a documentary just because it fails to demonize Arabs or Islam? Why not learn about Arabian culture? Why not personalize Arabs by looking at their families or their individual influences and aspirations? Why not show the beauty of the culture or the land, which our media fails to so often?
