Well, now that the building is finished, we are finishing up our roles on the capital campaign committee. We were not as successful as the building committee had hoped we would be, but we almost reached the target I had set for us. They had wanted us to reach $250,000, which I thought was a bit high since our community is very working-class. I had wanted us to reach $150,000. We are a little short at just under $149,000.
We still have a few bills that need to be paid and we still have one of our sale items that need to be paid off so that will bring us down a bit more. Overall, though, I am pretty happy with the results.
I really wished I had had enough money to sponsor the teen room. Ironically, I was the one that helped set the price, and it was definitely beyond my abilities to make a donation at $7,500. Ray and I did sponsor a $300 bench, though. Ahh! If only I had been able to win the lottery!
Now, we can focus on being Friends and helping our staff have the funds they need to better serve the community in the beautiful new building they have.
