Thursday started off interestingly. I had a lot I wanted to do in the morning so I was rushing about a bit. When I got to my truck to head in for work, I was surprised to see that I had forgotten to close the moon roof (On a weird side comment ... when did we stop calling them sun roofs?).
Anyways, I was a little worried because we had had a small line of storms come through overnight, but fortunately the trees I park under provided enough cover. The seats and everything else seemed to be dry. I did not think about too much else so I tossed my stuff into the back seat and jumped in to go.
By the time I got to the end of my street, I heard the things in my storage area tumble over a bit. Then I started hear a freaked out sounding MEOW coming from back there. It repeated quite a few times. I recognized the sound of the voice.
I pulled over, which I would have done either way, and opened the hatchback to find our cat, Mina, back there. She has markings that bring about the image of The Phantom of the Opera (all gray, except for her socks and a mask over one side of her face in light cream). Anyway, she was feeling pretty frantic. I had to shoo her out. She seemed a little lost for a few minutes and started heading home.
I felt terrible that I had done that to her, but I was a bit relieved because I am not sure what I would have done had I gotten all the way to work with her. It was definitely too hot to leave her in the truck for the whole day, and she is just too much of a nasty cat to bring her into work with me. I am the only person she doesn't hiss and swing her claws at. Even Ray is not safe when she is around.
The good news is that she was OK in the end.
