Small Favor by Jim Butcher

Harry Dresden, wizard/detective extraordinaire, is back in the middle of political intrigue with the fallen angels and sidhe (faerie-folk) in his tenth adventure. Winter has fallen over Chicago, and Harry is enjoying some much needed down time by playing with the children of his good friend Michael, among them his apprentice and sidekick Molly. Things quickly change from frolicking fun to "Oh, fu-" when they are attacked by three goat-like creatures called gruffs. That is right ... it is the three billy goats gruff, minions of the Fairy Queen of Summer, who has a grudge against Harry for the last time he interfered with fae politics.

The Special Investigations Unit of the police department also brings Harry in to help with another paranormal type case. Once again, his friend Sgt. Karrin Murphy partners up with him as they learn that Chicago's leading mafioso, one signore Marcone has gone missing and has been kidnapped.

Harry ends up bringing in any number of his regular allies from his vampiric brother Thomas to Bob, everyone's favorite talking skull and repository of knowledge. The book is filled with action that is nicely off-set with the usual amount of sarcastic humor.

The story itself is not quite as much fun, at least for me, but it is still definitely a nice addition to the series.
