Today was craft day at the library. I usually try to use two Wednesdays each month to do crafts with the tweens and teens. It always amazes me how excited they get over quick and simple crafts. They take so much time to be creative and turn it into their own. One of the great things about doing crafts with them is that they really make each one their own. I basically put out supplies and some basic guidelines, and they really take off with it.
The core of the penguins is the cardboard from a roll of toilet paper. They then got to use construction paper, glue scissors (regular and the artsy ones with the funny shaped edges), drawing paper, and markers to make little penguin families. We had all sorts of colors so they could do the traditional black and white or other colors.
I am always amazed with what they come up with. Their is one girl in particular who always does something unique and great looking. She dressed her penguin in a business suit, and even had a briefcase for it. It was so cute.
I wish I could share some pictures, but all the ones I took have the kids in them, and I am not really comfortable sharing them on the Internet. I wish I had thought to take some pictures of just the penguins so I could post them.
