Martin's good friend Gino sent the followuing update for all of us today:
Good evening everyone,
I called the hospital this morning to check on Martins progress. I finally got connected to the CVICU area and spoke with the nurse. She said he is doing well and is resting. She asked if I was coming over and I said I should be there about noontime. She asked if I would bring over a " NEWSPAPER"???
He was asking for a newspaper? In his condition? Well I did.
When I arrived and found his"suite" there he was: PROPPED UP IN A CHAIR with glasses on and sipping COFFEE!!!!!
WHAT A BOUNCEBACK!! He and I were talking up a storm as if NOTHING EVER OCCURRED.
Amazing.............He was served a delicious lunch of: HAMBURGER ON A ROLL, (ugh...cardboard..which he DIDN'T EAT) a small salad, bowl of corn and a bowl of rice, dessert- 2 cookies. HMMMM, YUMMY. On the up side, Martin was not hungry (?) and did not have any appetite.!!! Anyway we laughed about it. A few moment later our mutual cohort Allen arrived and we sat and chatted for several hours.
Martin is concerned that he may be released sooner than expected since he was making great progress, but he may not be headed for a rehab center for a few weeks as we anticipated. He's reluctant to go home since he is alone and may need assistance during the course of the day.. His medical plan allows for home care but for a few hours a day just to check vital signs etc. We won't know til later this week on the outcome. I will keep you posted accordingly. Everyone have a great evening.....
Will chat again,
-gino
