This is a public service announcement put together by the Douglas County Librareis:
I think it sums things up quite nicely.

Well, of course libraries are important! The whole world awaits you in a library because every book, video, piece of artwork, recording, internet access, etc. can lead you to anything anywhere. And, there are people there to help you find what you're looking for, understand what might be confusing, educate and share knowledge and fun, and ready to do all of it with a smile. I've always found libraries to be clean and safe, so they're great to visit year round.
I love librarians! My best friend is the longest surviving member of the Children's Services Department of our local library.
She can't believe they pay her for doing story time three timed a week for little kids, where they read and sing and have finger plays and story boards.
Movie night for teens once a month, with popcorn and pajamas, is one of the most often full programs.
There are book clubs for all ages, and concerts, lectures, genealogy classes, computer classes, so much more! Including home delivery for the disabled folks, like me. I love my Library! Doesn't everyone?! Just a couple of suggestions to all who read this: Volunteer at your library, or be a Friend of the Library. Visit your library! Take your kids there and supervise them yourself! Librarians are NOT childcare workers!
As you knwo I am not able to 'do' videos BUT to me libraries are important because of librarians who are better at getting info than the Internet--plus most are sexy males!!!!!
