Sedaris is back with another set of essays that look at various aspects of his life. The title and the cover really tie in best with the final essay, which focuses on a trip to Japan and his pathway to quitting smoking. The tale includes his less-than-successful lessons in Japanese as well as the process he went through to even decide that he wanted to quit.

Sedaris once again sets his sights on his family, including his curse-favoring brother, his sisters, and his parents. His boyfriend Hugh really gets a chance to shine in this collection. While he has been mentioned in a number of earlier books, Hugh is often seen as the straight-man to Sedaris' stumbling ways. One essay highlights how Sedaris is both attracted to and irked by Hugh's independence and ability to take care of himself, highlight the depth of their love.

This was really another good set of essays. I don't want to say that it is just like his other collections because that would be a disservice. With that said, it really captures the ability of Sedaris to be funny while also examining the faults in himself, his family, and in the world around him. It is also just as good as his other collections.
