Fans of the popular Percy Jackson & the Olympians series will be thrilled with this short and sweet collection of stories, characters interviews, and games. It was originally published to help hold reader's patience as they waited for the fifth and final installment in the series, The Last Olympian. I already read that one, but I am just getting to this fun little book now.
The book has three short stories. In the first, Percy has to help Clarissa find her father's missing chariot. The biggest problem with that is that her father is Ares, and you probably don't want to be on his bad side.
In the second story, Percy, Annabeth, and Silena work together with a few other half-bloods to save Beckendorf who has been taken by the giant ant-like Myrmekes. It is going to take some quick thinking by Annabeth to fix a dragon automaton to run defense ... if it doesn't take them out first.
Finally, the sole demi-god children of the big three (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) must work together to find Hades missing keys, which have been forged into a sword that will allow the bearer to have ultimate control over life and death. Percy, Nico, and Thalia will journey through the depths of Hades on their quest.
While the book lacks the epic feel of the novels in the series, it is full of the humor and great characters that have made this series one of the biggest since Harry Potter. The stories are short, but full of adventure. The interviews provide smiles and a little bit more insight to some of everyone's favorite characters from the series.
