Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 8: Volume 6

The Slayer army has been fully united under the leadership of Buffy and the rest of the Scooby gang. For the most part, all has been going really well, but that seems to be about to change as their enemies are combing forces to bring them down. With the help of Amy, the former rat and current witch, is helping Twilight as he is out to crush them.

Fortunately, for Buffy, the whole Scooby gang seems to be uniting. Not only has Giles and Faith returned to the fold to help out, but Buffy's sister is back to being normal sized (rather than a giantess). After a major attack on their fortress in Scotland, the Slayer legion uses Willow's magic to flee into the mountains of Tibet. When they arrive, they find Willow's ex Oz, who fled from Sunnydale to sort out what it means to be a werewolf, and his wife and baby.

To make what is already an awkward situation even worse, it seems that Amy is using her powers to track the Slayers by tagging their magical use. Buffy and the gang figure that out. Thankfully, Oz is able to show them that the local area is able to help with hiding magical powers by absorbing them directly into the earth. Unfortunately, attempts to do so with the Slayers and witches might be too late since Twilight, Amy, and their dark forces are already knocking on the figurative front door.

When the Slayers and witches have to take them on without powers, it will be up to Xander to show everyone how to put up the good fight without supernatural means.

I love the idea of really building up a super cast of our favorite heroes and villains for a storyline, but this storyline is pretty flat, to be honest. I am not sure why the plot comes across as being dull since it really is resulting in an epic battle involving our favorite characters. I guess it is partly because there is so little character development. Either the characters have no growth or they are rehashing old issues that we thought were taken care of either when the show was on the air or since the comic 8th Season has been in print.

I hate to say it, but should we consider laying Buffy's adventures to rest?
