Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss - a Movie Review

This was a fun comedy that really does show that you don't know when, where, or how love will strike. Billy is on the hunt for romance. His failure to find it is not for a lack of trying. He just has a bad habit of picking the wrong guys, particularly according to his good friend Georgiana. His current beau is a good example: Fernando is nice to look at and they enjoy being together, but Fernando already has a steady boyfriend.

Billy sets his sights on a new guy when he bumps into Gabriel at a party. Gabriel is a waiter who has just moved to San Francisco and has a girlfriend in the Pacific Northwest. Billy and Gabriel quickly become friends, but Gabriel makes it clear that there is nothing else in the cards for the two of them.

Before long, Billy decides that Gabriel would be a perfect model for a series of pictures he is hoping to take that would reflect well-known on-screen kisses from the golden age of cinema.

Sprinkled throughout the movie are a series of dream sequences that Billy has, showing the audience where he sees his relationship with Gabriel going. As the tale progresses, it quickly becomes clear that everyone is a little confused, and no one is sure what they really want. There is a happy ending, though, so it is worth it.

The whole movie has the typical, artsy feel that is found in most indie films. I tend to like it, but I am not sure how openly accepted that is for the average movie-goer. It is a fun romantic comedy.
