Watermelon Oreos

image

There is no watermelon in them, just artificial flavoring and color.

Purely statistical, 1 in 3 shopping carts at the grocery store checkout lines in America have Nabisco cookies like Oreos in them.

Tonight I made hamburger stroganoff over boiled potatoes. This is a small size recipe, just enough for two people. The potatoes were boiled soft and I could have made them into mashed potatoes, but we mashed them with our forks and it was very nice with less calories.

Stroganoff

Ground beef (chuck)
Onion, diced
1 tbsp catsup
2 tbsp sherry
1/3 cup or so beef broth
1/4 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper

Brown the beef with the onion until browned and the onion is tender. Drain off the fat and add the catsup, sherry, and broth. Cook over medium heat until the liquid is mostly gone. Remove from the heat and stir in the sour cream. Return to low heat, stirring, and heat through but don't boil. Serve over noodles or potatoes.

Tomorrow? I have some of those Corn Meal Waffles in the freezer, and maybe we'll just have them again with syrup and bacon. I might try some cranberries in maple syrup to serve with them.

It was a nice change. The other day I cooked some of that exotic looking pasta I bought at your Aldi's, served it with the chicken cacciatore because the sauce wasn't very thick and it got into the nooks and crannies.

You are not going to believe this.I never had an oreo cookie.Believed I mentioned this before.
Beef S.is one of our favorites, but it has been awhile since we cut back on eating meat.

You probably haven't missed anything, but I can't say. What I don't understand is the Oreos that aren't chocolate - one reason to eat them is that dark chocolate flavor of the cookies, and the other reason is that some people like taking them apart to chew off the filling before eating the outside.

Looks good, I'm gonna give it a try.

Can't go wrong with sour cream, (or bacon - better yet, both) although I consider it a luxury. Now that Paula Deen is the Enemy of the People, maybe comfort food is on the way out.

This sounds like a perfect little recipe. Might add a touch of roasted garlic....

That's a great idea! My life has changed since I bought that squeeze bottle of the minced garlic (although it's not roasted). I know it's probably sacrilege to buy minced garlic in the jar, but the squeeze bottle is even beyond that for convenience because I always had to get a clean spoon to get it out of the jar.
