1942----- as a 5year old when you went into a shop the adverts for chocolates and lollies were still up on the walls but none were available owing to the war .
Menze who made these in Adelaide had their factory burnt down , a local carrier had the job of clearing and dumping the remains in the local dump.
Us kids soon found out that amongst the rubbish was a treasure - -chocolate frogs, paper lollies , all kinds of goodies, a bit of spit and polish and it was heaven, took some home where our parents soon cleaned the worst.
