Australian Disasterous Floods

Dorothy MacKeller wrote the following lines way back in the early 1900's

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!

Sunburnt country is right , parts just came out of a 20 year drought with a bang, all of oz had great rains last september flooding NSW, rivers flooding towns there for weeks , here in South Australia water restrictions are over, reservoirs full and the mighty Murray river is bursting its banks this month.

Queensland has a total area of 1722000 km2 of which 80200 km2 is flooded some rivers are peaking at 19 mtres a disaster has been declared even your president Obama has offered help which all austalians appreciated.

The state of New South Wales its rivers also were in flood causing a lot of damaged plus a few drownings , the water there is subsiding allow residents back to the home yo clean up

Victoria where the bush fires wiped out towns last year have also been flooded this year .

My state South Australia has had great rains but no damaging floods

and then there are the animals coming into the dry areas

the mayor of Rockhampton has warned residents of the danger of crocodiles in the streets

I've been seeing this on the news and reading about it on the internet. So tragic for those who lost loved ones and their homes.

I'm acquainted with flooding, but not on that scale. But what can we do....

I hope it truly is an end to the drought, and not a fluke. Too bad it has to be the extremes.

Your floods have been on our news lately. What a site--and mess--and tragedy! Hang on. You're not affected, are you?
