Krups Model Dual Coffemaker. Born 1995. Died March 26, 2009. Lived way beyond its warranty (two years). Never made a bad cup of java. Always dependable and never complained. The espresso was always good, too. I only made Cappucino twice because I hate to froth milk. Requiescat in pacem.


How fickle we are. I have already replaced old Kruppy with very old Black & Decker Spacesaver Plus Model. I had this installed in my Long Beach kitchen when the Krups went on sale. So after only a few pots made, I took it apart and stored it. That was 14 years ago. I re-installed it this afternoon (What a job!!!) and am drinking my first cup of Joseph made in it since 1995. Not bad, but not Krups style. I will have to always add a little extra coffee. I like it stronger.

This model is neat because it frees up counter space and brews the coffee in a "hottle." The hottle is a sealing jug that hangs under the machine. When the coffee is ready, the machine beeps and turns itself off. The coffee is sealed in the bottle and remains hot, because it is glass-lined.

Life goes on.

And now I only have four cats. This morning they were vying to replace Bunjii already as "Bathroom Cat."



For a while there were three cats on that tiny towel shelf! Hobbes is checking out the bath/shower. He enjoys the tub. Rosie is on the lower rack. Satchel (grey) and Doobie are on the shelf.

Bisbee Bird is getting a bit thin on life now. He goes from fine to totally awful day-to-day. English Budgerigars have an 8 to 9 year life expectancy. He turned 8 in February. I expect to find him toes up any morning. I have placed hand towels on his cage floor to make it a soft landing. American Budgies live longer, if you are lucky. Beebop lived almost 17 years. He was my first. But Bubby only got to 5 and a half. Birds die from tumors and alimentary obstructions. They can also catch wild bird diseases like Psitticosis (Parrot's Disease.) Beery, my first English Budgie, only lived to five before the tumor got him. Beery was nearly human. He could put complex sentences together. Bisbee hardly talks at all. He is just a good birdy.

I'm going for another cup now.
