The 2009 Heritage festival is over. I worked Friday night setting up the Art Guild booth tent and table. Saturday I was there at 8a.m. (three block walk from my house, just across the river bridge) and worked the booth until noon. I went back in the afternoon to remove everything but the booth tent and the table, which I collapsed and smooshed down the tent to about 4 feet high.
Sunday I was there to set it all up again, and I remained there all day. In the early afternoon I helped set up two booth tents in the small park next to our booth and four tables, then arranged our auction items for the 2 p.m. auction. This year we sold off 40 lamps decorated by the members. We raised over $2100 this year. Last year we raised 4300. Times are tough in River City.
I tore everything down at 5, loaded it onto two vans and helped unload it all again at our Gallery a few blocks away. By the time we finished it was closing on 7 p.m.
I came home, fed the cats, took out the trash for Monday morning pick-up, and collapsed on my bed with four cats beside me.
Screw the cat hair. They missed me (but I changed the bedding today!)
I woke up about 8 a.m. this morning, totally hosed and prepared to sleep all day. But there are too many things to do.
This was my last volunteer effort of 2009. Thank God my phone lets me know who is calling before I pick it up.
