When Pigs Fly

A pedestrian walks past shuttered businesses in Mexico City. Some shops
in the city remained closed due to the beginning of a national holiday
and the government advising people to stay home in hopes of containing
the swine flu outbreak.

A waiter wears a face mask as a precaution against swine flu as he
works in a restaurant in Mexico City. Mexico ordered restaurants to
limit service to takeout as part of a citywide shut down to help
contain the spread of the virus. The sign at left reads in Spanish:
'Due to the current situation, our food will be to go.'
Yeah, well...ok. The title is corny, but I couldn't resist.
I'm intrigued by something here in Mexico. The print and radio news media are all reporting outrageous numbers of infections of swine flu. At one point early into this I read that Mexico had 1,600 cases, 900 of which had already been treated and released. I just looked at the World Health Organization web site and found them reporting only 506 cases with only nineteen deaths. Mexico was reporting over 150 deaths as early as last Sunday.
Hmmmm????
Now, in my opinion, this certainly explains a lot of things not even related to swine flu, but that is probably a whole other post.
We're well, thanks for asking. We canceled our weekend worship services as a precaution. Hopefully by Wednesday things will be back into full swing. My wife and I are enjoying a well-deserved Sunday off!
Thanks for stopping by!
