Day Two we walked half a mile to the church (Dad and I). Then we walked downtown and looked around, ate some tacos. We also went back to Guadalajara to yet another mall and ate at Chili's (see how we tried to keep Mom and little brother in an environment similar to the one they are used to?) This is a pic of Dad and I eating the famous tortas ahogadas behind the Sears building in downtown Guadalajara.

Day Three was spent around the house here in Ocotlán. We did discover that Mom and little brother DO enjoy our local tacos. Small miracle there, I tell ya.

Tacos 4 Two!

Everyone at church was very happy to finally meet the parents of their pastor.
Sunday was another busy day at church, with a HUGE potluck dinner after the service. I was presented with a month early birthday cake and a garish 35 candle to blow out. LOL
The icing on my face is part of a Mexican tradition of pushing the face of the birthday person down into the cake as he takes a bite out of it. I got off easy.

Days Five and Six were spent in Guadalajara at the Hampton Inn (Who's idea was that?) We walked around downtown Guadalajara at night and saw some plazas and took pictures. We followed that with a meal at a restaurant started in 1942.

All in all, it was a great visit! My dad loves to meet and talk to new people, so he would just go out on the streets around our house and talk to whoever, making friends. I shudder to think about all the misunderstandings and confusion stemming from an American speaking English with a Mexican speaking Spanish.
We took them to the airport and now the house is quiet. At least now, they know what I'm talking about when I refer to people and places here in Jalisco.
