Saturday morning we were notified of the death of a woman who attended our church. Tradition dictates that the family and friends stay up with the body one full day and one full night. So, from 10am till 1:30am I was there offering support and services. Sunday morning at 8am, I was there again until the funeral and burial were over (finally) at 5:30pm on Sunday. By Sunday evening I was worn slick and oh so ready to sleep when the phone rings at 11:30pm with news of another lady who was in the emergency room at the Red Cross hospital. Jenn and I got out of bed, got dressed and walked down to see what we could do. Finally, at 12:30am, we headed home and crashed. It goes without saying, we slept in today.
Our immigration visas are going to cost more and require more hurdles to hop this year. We're changing status so we can become citizens in five years and stop this highway robbery they call "immigration services". Now, someone has to go to Mexico City to acquire ONE sheet of paper from the Office of Religious Affairs in order to begin the filing process. Annually. Why the sudden change? I'm calling my contacts in that office tomorrow to find out why. At any rate, if we stay with it, in five years it won't matter any more.
Hmmmm, having mentioned Monopoly, I think I'll see if Jenn is up for a game or two or three. Who cares? It's our day off. And it's well deserved after the week we've had.
