We've been busy. I've got my "successor" picked out and installed. By that, I mean co-pastor. He's a young man of 20 years and his wife is 24. We're paying them to help us out with the various tasks associated with running the business of the church, since we are starting new "mission" out in a town an hour away from here. It's a training opportunity for them, as well. An opportunity for them to get their feet wet without the risk of total failure. OJT.

They are settling in nicely and seem to be well liked by all. They came just in the nick of time. My grandmother of 97 is in the hospital and isn't expected to make it. We want to leave for the US as soon as my lawyer gets my passport back to me. It's taken her two months to do paperwork that should have only taken a month at the most. I cannot return to the US without my passport. This young couple will fill in for us in our month long absence, as my sis-in-law is marrying in June and we plan to stay for that, as well.
Not that our going home will be vacation or even restful. We'll spend our free time visiting the various churches that support our ministry here, telling them thanks and reporting on things out here. It will be a fun trip, though. We'll eat at all the places we miss the most and buy some things we cannot get here in Mexico.
Hopefully, we get safely through the border. I wonder if I could just close my eyes and drive as fast as I can.
My wife and I invited the whole congregation to the church for grilled hamburgers. They only had to provide the drinks. I grilled 84 burgers and every one of them disappeared! One little boy of six ate THREE!!! He said, "I'm just a little barrel with no bottom!" His mother needs to stop being his best friend and be his mother for once and rein him in. He'll thank her later, if not immediately.

We had a blast. Lots of talking and laughing. It only cost about 75-80 dollars, all told. We bought those pre-made, frozen patties and they really weren't bad. I couldn't imagine patting out 84 patties of meat for that. Throw in some chips and all the condiments, and I mean ALL, all the ones you're familiar with and then some with which you might not be so familiar. Would you believe they like avocado on their burgers, and bacon. Some people even put a thin slice of pineapple! All told, it was great!
Well, if you've read down this far, you're a die-hard fan, so I'll throw you a little tidbit. I am stark raving mad about my wife. She is amazing and I wish I had found her sixteen years ago. BUT, it might not have worked out then. I remember how I was.
bye now!
