Yes, today is DIY day. I struck out on my own this morning and ordered breakfast...actually two breakfasts, or three. I remembered, more or less where we ate breakfast the first day in Taipei, so I hoofed it over there at about seven this morning. I found it, but before I got there, I saw a little breakfast sandwich stand. We're talking egg and ham sandwich with grated cucumber. Really good. Oh, and some milk tea. It's just tea with a lot of milk in it. Also really good. Just down the sidewalk I spotted my place and they were already in business. Since I couldn't order in Chinese and wifey was in bed at the hotel, I discovered my pointer works really well and lots of smiles and nods. Fingers have always been for counting, so I pointed to the menu. Counted out one of each of the three kinds, all described in glorious detail with unintelligible sticks and curves, and was on my way. Starbucks still wasn't open on my way back to the hotel, so we skipped the coffee. In fact, I've skipped the coffee ever since we deplaned in Taipei. There's no need to eat and drink things I can get every day in Guadalajara if I'm in Taiwan on the other side of the world. 7-Eleven is on every street corner here and they have the most extensive variety of drinks you can imagine, so I'm always trying something new and exciting. One of my favorites is rose tea, cold. And milk tea. They have one called afternoon tea, but it's never afternoon when I'm looking there, so I make myself wait. LOL
Still no batteries my camera likes, but we're working on it. Right now, we're on a train between Taipei and the town Jennifer used to work in, Miao-Li (pronounced Meow Lee). Some bi-lingual guy is supposed to pick us up at the station, take us to eat and show us around. The local pastor will be around later to accompany us to a prayer meeting and then tomorrow (your Saturday evening) we'll have Sunday services and food afterward. Looking forward to the food, very much so. I told Jennifer the other day, "For me, vacation is all about the food and the people. You keep my stomach full of good and interesting things and I'll follow you around any where you want to go." Until later.
