That's my wife. Poor thing. She had two molars extracted today. The first one almost popped out on it's own. The second, well...it had ROOTS! The dentists (pl) fooled around with it for almost an hour. Then they referred us to an oral surgeon three or four miles away. Jenn was so brave. All of that in a language she doesn't master yet and with the same grace and poise which attracted me to her in the first place. I'm not saying she didn't shed a few tears, but she was a real trooper, especially where the last doctor was concerned. He was a loud and abrasive man, foul mouthed and rough with his hands. At one point, his fingers, plus his assistant's fingers, plus a few tools were all wedged into my poor wife's small mouth. To add to her frustration, the doctor kept yelling, "This molar is almost out! Hold on! It's almost out!" in Spanish and occasionally in broken English. His words of consolation were far from consoling. They only served to further frustrate Jennifer, although I'm sure his intentions were the exact opposite. Finally, the tooth and a few grams of bone came out and he stitched her up. Her treat from me? I'm staying home from an engagement to tend to her every need. It's the least I can do for the woman who has truly changed my life in so many ways.
She's worried about the very strong taste of blood in her mouth, but other than that, she's just fine.
This means that we are finally caught up on our dental work (both of us), except for the final cleaning to done in a couple of weeks.
Anyone out there know how much dental work is in the States? We paid $160.00 US dollars for this last extraction, including meds for pain and infection. I'm just curious about how the costs compare.
The upside? I got out of taking the youth to the rally tonight. Yippee! LOL
This one is going under Food & Drink, as the dentist blames Coca-Cola for all the cavities my wife and I HAD.
Cheerio.
