My last blog mentioned that my dad could not read and Fredo ask me why and I would like to discuss this a little more. For those of you that didn't read my reply to him the answer was that he(my dad) was lazy and let his girlfriends do his work. He went into the service when he was 17 and when he came back the teachers passed him because he was 18. It is sad when schools pass children just to get them out of school. They did the same with my brother. They put him in special ed classes and pass him without teaching him a damn thing. My dad and my brother are very good people and I do not think less of them in any way. I love them dearly but, this shit has got to stop. Oh, and that No Child Left Behind CRAP is being used for all the wrong reasons. They are holding back children that might lower test scores so they don't loose their funding and keeping kids longer for more funding. They need to STOP worrying about all that fund raising and teach our youth.

I have two children of my own my son is 15 and my daughter is 9. We held my son back in first grade not because of grades but maturity level and my daughter is in third grade and we are holding her back because she is having a very hard time with reading. We put her in summer school to give her an extra boost for next year. I will not sit by and let my kids fail to learn in school. I will do everything I can to help them learn all they can. My son is now an A-B student and has plans for his future. He is going to be a Chef. He is even going to take Vocational Technical classes the culinary arts. I will not allow my the school system to hinder my children in any way.
