
WASHINGTON -- Robert Prosky, who played Sgt. Stan Jablonski -- the the roll-out seargent who always told the members of television's "Hill Street Blues" crew, "Let's do it to them before they do it to us," has died.
He was 77.
Prosky's son said the veteran actor died Monday night in Washington of complications from a heart procedure.
Prosky was in more than 200 plays on Broadway and in the Washington D.C. area. But he was best known for his roles in television shows like "Hill Street Blues" and "The Practice." He also had roles on "Veronica's Closet," "Coach," "Cheers" and "ER."
The actor appeared in several films as well, including "Christine," where he played a grumbling garage owner, and "The Natural," as the corrupt Judge. In "Mrs. Doubtfire,†Prosky played the television station owner who hired Robin Williams, who was disguised as a nanny.
Prosky's other film credits included "Rudy," "Hoffa," "Broadcast News" and "Far and Away."
