Guy Fawkes Night

Well it is’ Bonfire Night’ !

Also, it is the 21st anniversary of my move into this house and

It is the 39th anniversary of mine and my mother’s move to Wales.

For my mum, it was her return ‘home’ to her family. For me (as a 17 year old) leaving ‘London’ for ‘Wales’ – it seemed a little traumatic-ish, lol.

A friend and I had, tried to get a flat (apartment) together near to where we both worked, but when we checked them out, wow, they were ‘expensive’!!! To cut a long story short – I gave in and told my mum that I too would move to Wales with her.

It took a while, to get used to ‘village life’, after ‘the smoke’. But, I think I did make the correct choice.

All in all, the two very big moves of my life, have always been accompanied with FIREWORKS!!!

I think that before long, fireworks will be banned here also. So many accidents occur during this period, you wouldn't believe. The government are tightening up on there usage and controlled 'displays' are now, far more common, than when I was little.
If you had asked me this time last year, what I thought of them, I would have said 'ban them', this is because I had a dog, who was 'petrified' of them. Now, he has passed away and my other pets are 'ok' with them . . . so (selfishly) now I have no concern about them - although I do feel sorry for the rest of the frightened animals

Tell us about village life. I spent a week in London and a week in Canterbury and went to Ascot but that is all I know about English life. Not what it is really like.

I've been to Canterbury (although not, to the Cathedral ) - and I've been to Ascot ( but not to 'Royal Ascot' - oh I would looovvvveee, to go there to the horse racing, during Royal Ascot week )

When I was in London, I was in one of the 'busy' areas. It was my transition into the 'Welsh' village life I found so very hard. I can ask my husband to explain to me what the real Devon village life was like - they are the more 'traditional' aspects of village life - village ponds, thatched cottages etc. - typical 'Miss Marple' scene (I would have no objection, to moving to one of 'those' villages!
The 'Welsh' village life is totally 'un-like' it! Where I live now, is a bit closer to 'town' - but not at all like 'London'. For that, I would have to go to Cardiff, there, it is a bit more multi - cultural and 'busy'

Hiya Joan I think the rain stopped few of the local 'firewoks' from happening, but there were some splendid effects in the skies above our place - wish I had taken some photos, but never mind
