Sorry, but my brain cries out for information - it is like nicotine addiction

Off subject, but burning question: on one of the BBC7 shows (Ladies of Letters) I heard mention of a Put-u-up. I figured out it's some sort of temporary guest bed, but is what we call a sofa bed, or more like a roll away (cot on wheels that folds up)? I googled it and a bunch of sites for self-catering cottages came up with mentions of 'double put-u-up.' It's such a cute name.

There are so many, different phrases by you and I (Americanisms & Englishisms - I won't mention, the 'Welshishisms' - they are incredible!!!)
I think the most often misunderstood is 'chips'. To me, these are 'deep fried potatoes' cut into lengths and eaten with fish, eggs and burgers. - You call these 'french fries'.
To you, they are 'wafer thin crisply cooked' flavoured (I presume) and sold in packets. - Now these, we call 'crisps'.
'Jelly' is another - I think you call it 'gello' - it is a type of gelatin and it can accompany blancmange.
Between us, I think we could write a very helpful dictionary of American/ Anglo phrases
