There's something really icky about getting caught up in conversation with a boss who always has one of their employees in the hot seat. (Behind their back)
The hostility and mean spirited comments are hard to take, but I guess it's human to feel somewhat relieved that it's not aimed at me...until it is. Everyone gets their turn in the hot seat.
Gossip is cruel, and unwillingness to understand someone else's current plight just feeds those comments.
I'm such a fool...I've willingly stepped into conversation with this woman and I've witnessed her stabbing everyone else in the back by using things they told her in confidence as bullets against them. I've heard her express her own plight as a way to relate to mine, but now I sense, that was me walking into the trap...she's firing bullets with my name on them now.
My sense is that this type of person can't be stopped. They run their lives this way continuously and burn through people as a result. I see people leaving; trickling out the door but not saying why.
I don't know how long I want to stay in this environment, but I'll try to keep my own story to myself from now on. This is not a person to be trusted with any information about me or my life...or anyone else's. She's unsafe and untrustworthy.
This isn't a job I depend on for anything other than the joy it gives me to do the job...it's not my day job, but it's a unique job that I love doing...I just can't trust my boss...
