Picket Edging

Almost finished with the lace border edging for the baby gown. I looks so pretty. I just LOVE this pattern. I don't have much experience with lace and the first several repeats I think I was missing YO's or something and the stitchs were not lining up. I found a chart maker online and charted that pattern. I don't know if it was the chart or just repeating the pattern several times but the rest of the edging looks beautiful. My daughter who is expecting is so excited about the gown it makes is all worth it. The site for the chart maker is https://jacquie.typepad.com/Charts/knitChart.htm
It is just a blank chart, there wasn't a way I could find to save it online. My computer goal for the week is to figure out how to scan the chart I printed and post it for anyone who might find a chart helpful.
I should finish the edging in the next couple of days and then start the bodice. Still crossing my fingers and hoping that the whole "gauge" thing doesn't come back and bite me. Note to self "don't short cut the tension swatch" You would think I should know that because I do have a couple of sweaters that..... well you know , I bet everyone that has ever knitted has one of those :-)

Thanks for the link. I can't knit from charts. Maybe if I try designing something with a chart it will make sense to me.

I have yet to knit anything off a chart because I'm so used to seeing the words. I think I might take a chart and write it out in words, then go between the two so I can get used to the charts.

I have found charts easier for my mind to follow for short repeating patterens. I tend to loose my place with long hand instructions and miss or repeat stitches.

That's not a good idea. I've already tried it. You need to use the chart OR the written pattern because it's too confusing to do both at the same time. One of these days I'll pick a simple pattern and try to follow the chart but it's like trying to learn a different language.

I am not sure what happened but if you click the red text it takes you to the site. I hope to post a "filled in" chart soon.
