I have been working off and on for the last two months on this baby blanket. It was a request from my daughter in Texas for her sister-in-law who is expecting her first baby anytime now.


Once I made afgans and baby blankets all the time. In fact that was all I did until about 8 yrs ago when I make my first sweater. Since then I have moved on to more interesting patterns and items. I have come to appriciate the litte "quick" projects like baby clothes, socks, scarfs things like that. After all how many afgans can you use. We have plenty. Now making blankets is kind of boring and I almost have to force myself to do it. Especially if there are large sections of just knit /purl.


I received the yarn for the shetland shawl blanket and will be starting that soon. That pattern looks like fun and has some interesting lace edging and techniques. I enjoy new patterns. The downside is my daughter who was expecting has had a miscarriage, but she says she would still like the shawl. I will do this one in the tradition of the prayer shawl with a prayer for healing and peace in her heart worked into every stitch.
