My Kind of Graffiti

My husband showed me an article from a near-by town with a new twist on graffiti.

Yarnbombing - about a street artist that spins and knits pole cozies and puts them on street poles around the towns of Berkeley, Oakland and Kensington California.
From the article it seems that yarnbombing began last year all over the world and is gaining steam in the United States.
Now that's my kind of Graffiti! I just need a back fence cozy.

I googled it, and it's really something. There was an entire tree wrapped in knitted or maybe crocheted 'fabric.' Also, someone crochets small hearts and hangs them with an identifying tag in public places like the back of an airplane seat or restroom door handles. It is an interesting idea. We could unravel old sweaters to get the yarn.

I've seen those pictures of cozies on poles. trees and fire hydrants. I just think, "What a waste of good yarn."

I don't know that I would spend hours doing it but if the people that have enough time on their hands to spray paint all over my back fence would learn to knit I would live in the most beautiful town in California instead of the most vandalized.
